This past Tuesday night, I told my husband that I wanted a divorce. After eleven years together, our breakup came down to a brief conversation, mostly about logistics, before we hugged each other and said, “I Love You”.
There wasn’t any fight left in either of us. All that could be said had been said in the eleven years leading up to Tuesday night. It came down to two old friends acknowledging their time together had come to an end. Our need to travel different paths outweighed our desire to be together.

As of this post, I am 47. Prior to my eleven year relationship that led to marriage, I was in another ten year relationship. I was 25 when I was last on my own.
