I’ve always been a sucker for an equinox. Interesting fact: the last time the first day of Spring landed on March 19 was 124 years ago, which makes this the earliest astronomical Spring of our lifetimes. Winter is over and despite the bleak outlook of this particular Spring, you’ll find me toasting to new beginnings at 8:49 PM tonight. I do so not to be ironic or cute or as an act of defiance; I raise my glass this equinox as a man humbled by nature.
