Don’t be bullied into love, lured into committing your heart to those who question its value and drain it of potential.
The Shield badge is earned when you realize that while your love for another may be limitless the years in this lifetime are not. It comes with an awareness that the heart is deserving of adventure and reciprocity, a recognition that kindness only heals those wanting to be cured by your touch.
However difficult and sobering, the Shield badge ultimately comes with an acceptance that wanting the love of another doesn’t entitle you to their affection; regardless of however much you may want to believe otherwise, unrequited love is a dream unfulfilled nonetheless, an adventure never taken.
When gifted, the Shield badge protects the recipient from the ungiving, those who seek love for validation and photo opportunities, who are far too beholden to themselves, another, or an ideal to replenish a benevolent heart. It shelters the recipient from the pain it takes to walk away, the fear of being alone, and replaces it with anticipation for the road untraveled.
