12 years ago I was in a dark place after an extended bout of unemployed during the Great Recession. To keep myself from going crazy, I tapped into my creativity and wrote some short stories that I put to music.
The excerpt included w/ this post is from “The Legend of Ladybug Lounge”, a story about past life lovers making contact again after several lifetimes. The story was heavily influenced by the book “Many Lives, Many Masters” by Brian Weiss, which I was reading at the time.
The lullaby themed pieces reflect the darkness I was seeking to escape at the time, which some have found off-putting or misconstrued as pieces of nonfiction. Vulnerability and self expression aren’t for everyone, but I’m proud of the compositions. However weird my imagination may be to others, I’m equally proud of the lessons that followed in becoming more vulnerable and sharing my creativity, which turns out is a very lonely place… and extremely empowering when seen through proper lenses.
However dark I was feeling in 2010, when I revisited the period in 2020, I realized it was one of the most rewarding times of my life. That delayed sense of gratification became the catalyst for Fluffer71, which helps me keep a foot anchored in self expression and gives me a sense of balance that had been missing in my life.
Moral of the Story – Be weird. This journey is yours to travel and yours alone. Don’t surrender your potential to those hobbled on their journeys, who live to meet other peoples’ expectations and take comfort in judgement to validate their existence. As the dead would likely echo, it takes a brave heart to win the grand prize – salvation.
